She reluctantly took it, at the encouragement of Fittz and Razza.

She knew them both, and knew it was better that, at least for now, the Fire Tribe have someone that knew the other leaders.

Which left the uncomfortable question of the last Jewel.

Many Fire Tribe called for the Jewel to not be given back to the Air Tribe, but Razza insisted.

If the new government was to work, the four tribes had to trust one another.

They had to be willing to work together to help heal Felishon.

Ion came forward with a suggestion.

An Air Tribe monk had been jailed by Cryostoria years ago for political protest against Cryostoria's regime.

The monk, Illos Kanan, was immediately set free, along with many other political opponents of Cryostoria's.

Illos was a pacifist and had been a thorn in Cryostoria's side for years before his arrest.

The other Tribe leaders were accepting of it, and the Fire Tribe was fine with anyone who was Cryostoria's enemy.

Illos, not expecting his freedom, was reluctant to accept at first, but after discussing it with the other leaders, accepted it.

The four tribes were finally no longer at war.

Ion, in one move, had both taken out the leader it saw as the greatest threat to Alastere, and had favorable say with Felishon's new government.

And yet not everyone was happy.
